Find Accredited Respiratory Therapist Schools in Texas

With the exception of Texas State University, Midwestern State University, the University of Texas, and Texas Southern University, respiratory therapist schools in Texas offer a two-year Associate of Science (A.S.) or Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Respiratory Therapy. An A.S. or A.A.S. degree is the minimum level of education or training one needs for getting an entry-level position in respiratory therapy. However, the aforementioned schools have the more advanced option of a four-year Bachelor of Science. This kind of program prepares students to become leaders in the field and arms them with more polished skills in certain areas, such as critical care, disease diagnosis, and cardiopulmonary disease. After graduation, students can sit for the Certified Registered Therapist (CRT) or the higher-tiered Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, both of which are administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
